Please note:
This comprehensive guide walks you through the full process of setting up your OKX derivatives sub-account — from sub-account creation, setup and funding to API key creation and submission to Sequence.
The guide is organized into the following sections:
<aside> ⛔
Regional domain
If your OKX account was created on app.okx.com (US/AU), us.okx.com, or eu.okx.com, please note that these regional versions are not supported.
Only accounts on www.okx.com (Global) and my.okx.com (EEA) can connect to the system.
If you are affected by this, alternative exchanges are available.
Use a Desktop Browser for Best Results. We strongly recommend completing the setup process on a desktop browser, preferably Chrome. In our experience, doing this on a mobile web browser can be quite difficult — while not entirely impossible, the process is significantly less smooth. Additionally, API configuration is not supported in the native exchange applications (e.g., the Binance or Bybit mobile apps), so it's important to use a desktop environment for a successful setup.
Primary Email Requirement Your registered email is the one linked to your active strategy or bot, and it’s the only one authorized to receive private account information. 2FA codes, invoices, and sensitive support responses will only be sent to this email.
Jurisdictional Restrictions on Derivatives Trading Please be aware that some jurisdictions restrict access to futures and derivatives trading. While exchanges such as OKX do not publish a complete list, these products are typically not available to users in certain regions. Countries with known restrictions include the Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, United States, and Canada, as well as any jurisdiction where the exchange is not officially licensed to operate.
If you're unsure whether your region is affected, one easy way to find out is to log into your futures account and try placing a test trade. The order can be cancelled immediately afterward. If your jurisdiction is restricted, the platform will typically block the attempt or display a clear error message.
